What is an AlexLoop Antenna in Amateur Radio?

Couple of days back I saw a post on X by N8HM showing a nice magnetic loop type of antenna on a balcony and in response to my question, he replied that it is an AlexLoop antenna. My search brought me to the website of AlexLoop by Alexandre Grimberg, PY1AHD as well as a few related products listed at DX Engineering website with good review ratings. Most popular among the products was AlexLoop HamPack Portable Magnetic Loop Antenna System HAMPACK which included AlexLoop, Portable Small Magnetic Loop with Backpack for Antenna and QRP Rig, Tuning Scale, AlexTune LED Indicator, covering 40-10m amateur radio bands, meant for 25W SSB and 10W CW and digital modes.

AlexLoop HamPack Portable Magnetic Loop Antenna System is a portable magnetic loop antenna system for outdoor amateur radio operations as well as for those with restricted operating space at home QTH, as I had seen the AlexLoop mounted on the balcony of N8HM. Being a lightweight antenna it can be easily taken to the field. Hence it will be useful for operations like Parks on the Air and Summits on the Air. Lightweight and compact design of antenna should make it suitable for SOTA operations when one has to climb a hill with everything in the back pack. The HamPack has two reinforced pouches, one which can accomodate any QRP size rig and other for antenna and accessories. It will also be useful for other amateur radio portable operations like camping, hiking or operation from a hotel room with AlexLoop mounted in a window or balcony.

The nice tuner had a printed scale proportional to the coverage on each of the amateur radio bands. There is an AlexTune LED indicator for ease of tuning which indicates the best tuned position by the illumination. AlexLoop had been reviewed by QST Magazine in October 2023 issue. As a disclaimer, I have not been lucky enough to use the AlexLoop and the information presented is based on my websearches as I found it quite interesting in concept as a popular portable amateur radio antenna. I have seen many in my region also posting pictures of small magnetic loop antennas in various online fora. My local friends have always highlighted the low noise level of loop antennas whenever I complained of S9 noise level in my HF radio at my city home.
