YL Net on India Conference, Open to OM on Saturdays

YL Net on EchoLink India Conference node, was initiated by VU2RBI during the Corona times, but is still continuing regularly between 6.00 to 6.30 pm IST (1230 to 1300z), from Monday to Saturday. Though the YL Net is on India Conference node, participation is international, with YLs joining from Canada, United States of America, South Africa, Sri Lanka and India. Indian YLs from Pune, Patna, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatha, Hyderabad and Bangalore participate daily and usual number of check in is between 10-15.

VU2RBI wishes that more and more YLs will participate in the net and overcome their mike shyness. VU2RBI also pointed out that there is quite a good YL activity now with YLs participating in IOTA, Field Days and even at the ongoing expedition at Kargil, AT25KAR. VU2FI who is organizing the event at Kargil had noted that there are three YLs in their team. They are operating on digital modes as well and conducting awareness classes in shools etc. YL net is open to OMs on Saturdays, though the net control will be still a YL.

EchoLink is a software platform for Amateur Radio which can be downloaded free from EchoLink website (https://www.echolink.org/). Licensed amateur radio operators can communicate using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology on the Internet for at least part of the path between them. EchoLink platform was created by Jonathan Taylor, K1RFD. Android version is avilable on Google Play and can be used to connect with other EchoLink users either on the software platform or linked radios. Several amateur radio repeaters worldwide are connected to EchoLink. A radio amateur using EchoLink can thus connect with another radio amateur on an EchoLink connected repeater or simplex radio. Validation is required for getting access to EchoLink.
