Femoral artery: Femoral artery is a large blood vessel which carries oxygenated blood to the lower limb. It starts in the groin and continues up to the knee. Femoral artery is often used to introduce catheters (small tubes) for studying the blood vessels (angiography) and removing blocks in them (angioplasty). For this femoral artery is punctured in the groin under local anaesthesia.
