What are desirable levels of good cholesterol (HDL), bad cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and total cholesterol?
Good cholesterol (HDL) is involved in reverse cholesterol transport from the blood vessels to the liver. That is why it is known as good cholesterol. We should have it above 50 mg / dL. Triglycerides should be below 150 and LDL below 130 in those without heart disease. LDL should be below 100 in those with heart disease. Total cholesterol should be below 200.
