What is an Electrical Defect of the Heart
Electrical conduction system of the heart

Heart has an electrical conduction system which gives it signals to contract regularly and in a sequential way. Atria, the upper chambers contract first and ventricles, the lower chambers after a short delay. This helps proper filling and emptying of the ventricles to pump out blood. This sequence can be affected by disorders of the conduction system, known as electrical defect of the heart. They can be as dangerous as any other disease of the heart. Some of the minor electrical defects of the heart are harmless. An example is an incomplete right bundle branch block or IRBBB, a partial block in the conduction bundle to the right lower chamber. It is harmless if there is no other associated structural defect like an atrial septal defect.
