What is the technical name of the blood pressure measuring apparatus?

Blood pressure measuring equipment is known as sphygmomanometer (BP apparatus in common usage). Usually there are three types of sphygmomanometer: aneroid, mercury and digital. Aneroid sphygmomanometer has a dial in which the blood pressure is indicated.

In mercury type, it is the height of the mercury column which indicates the blood pressure. Mercury sphygmomanometers are being phased out due to the environmental hazards of mercury.

Digital sphygmomanometer has a digital display which displays the systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as the pulse rate most often.
