CRT volume status monitoring

Volume status monitoring: Measurement of transthoracic impedance has been used to assess the volume status and the tendency to go in for pulmonary edema can be detected. An an audible alert is given when the volume threshold status is exceeded. A small study has shown that this reduces the number of hospitalizations due to worsening of heart failure as the physician can be contacted when the alert is received to take appropriate therapeutic measures.
