Loading dose of aspirin in acute coronary syndrome is 300 mg (325 for some preparations). The first dose has to be chewed to facilitate buccal absorption. Soluble aspirin is preferred over enteric coated variety for buccal use. Prior history of aspirin allergy, upper gastrointestinal or other bleeding tendency should be checked before giving aspirin which is an anti-platelet agent.

Injectable forms of aspirin was available long back, but is seldom seen now.
