Basics of Echocardiography

Echocardiography is ultrasound imaging of the heart. It is not restricted to the echocardiography room. Echocardiography can be done at bedside, in the emergency room, intensive care room and in the operating room. It supports major cardiac and non-cardiac surgical procedures. Technician and paramedical persons also need to know basics of echocardiography in these settings. Devices vary in size from small hand-held devices the size of a mobile phone, to large almirah sized equipment in core echocardiography laboratories.
