Can chewable aspirin remove plaque in your arteries?

The role of chewable aspirin is to get a rapid action, compared to oral aspirin. This is because of rapid absorption directly from the mouth. Swallowed aspirin takes a much longer time to act because it has to be absorbed from intestine, pass through the blood vessels of the liver and then reach the general circulation. The role of aspirin is to block the action of platelets (anti platelet agent) and thus prevent the formation of new clots within the arteries and enlargement of the clots already present. It is not for removing plaques, which are mainly deposits of fatty materials. Fatty plaques have to be removed mechanically by procedures like angioplasty or atherectomy. Long term intensive medical treatment may cause regression of plaques.
