Crux of the heart

Crux of the heart

Crux of the heart is the junction of the atrioventricular and interventricular grooves behind the heart. Atrioventricular groove is the groove between the upper and lower chambers of the heart. Interventricular groove is the groove between the two lower chambers of the heart. The coronary artery which crosses the crux is termed the dominant coronary artery. Most of the cases it is the right coronary artery which is dominant. It may be noted that regardless of this ‘dominance’ it is usually the left coronary artery which supplies the major part of the heart muscle.
