Guide wire introducers

Guide wire introducers are of different types depending on the application. Simple tapered tip introducers as well as introducers with butterfly like flanges are also available. The blue butterfly shaped introducer has the highest size of guide wire which can be introduced through it printed on it. Image on the right side shows a J tipped guidewire within the butterfly shaped guidewire introducer.

Introducer for a PTCA guidewire is thinner, but much longer and resembles a Seldinger needle used for arterial cannulation, but the tip is not bevelled or sharp.
