High risk patients for coronary stent thrombosis

High risk patients for coronary stent thrombosis

High risk patients for coronary stent thrombosis with respect to the stented region would be:

  1. Long stented segments
  2. Multiple stents
  3. Overlapping stents
  4. Small vessels
  5. Bifurcation lesions

Risk of potential coronary stent thrombosis with respect to patient outcome is likely to be more severe in:

  1. Left main stenting
  2. Stenting of last remaining vessel

In both of these scenarios, one should be very careful while with holding anti platelet agents prior to elective non cardiac surgery, especially within one year in case of drug eluting stents.
