Proximal and mid left anterior descending coronary artery lesions in LAO caudal view

Proximal and mid left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery lesions in LAO caudal view. Though the standard LAO view produces foreshortening of the left coronary system, it is useful for visualizing the left main main coronary artery (LMCA) and proximal regions of the LAD and left circumflex (LCX) coronary artery. Diag: diagonal branch of LAD. Left coronary angiogram (video) in LAO caudal view, demonstrating the left main bifurcation. The proximal LAD is narrowed for a short distance from the ostium (compare the diameter of proximal LAD with that of LCX and LAD between the two lesions. The diagonal seems to arise from the second lesion. The distal lesion is tight while the proximal lesion is less severe. The actual length of the lesions cannot be assessed from this view as the LAD is foreshortened in this view. This view is useful in assessing the ostial involvement.
