What are the medical experiments planned by Indian Astronaut onboard the International Space Station?
Indian Space Research Organization has planned seven experiments for the Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla during his current session on International Space Station lasting for a fortnight. Of these seven experiments two have direct relation to the field of medicine. One is the effect of metabolic supplements on muscle regeneration under microgravity, by the Institute of Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (InStem). Second one is Analyzing Human Interaction with Electronic Displays in Microgravity by the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc). Available research facilities onboard the International Space station will be utilised for these projects. Experience gained by this effort will be useful in microgravity research in the country, more so as India is planning human space flight missions and a space station of its own, in the near future.
