What is an electrical defect of the heart?

Heart has a conduction system which makes it contract regularly and in a sequential way. The atria (upper chambers) contract first and the ventricles (lower chambers) after a short delay. This helps proper filling and emptying of the ventricles to pump out the blood. This sequence can be affected by disorders of the conduction system, known as electrical defect of the heart. They can be as dangerous as any other disease of the heart. Some of the minor electrical defects are harmless.
