Which heart valves can get narrowed?

Any of the four heart valves can get narrowed. The valve connecting the left atrium (upper chamber) with the left ventricle (lower chamber) is known as the mitral valve and narrowing of this valve is known as mitral stenosis. The valve connecting the right atrium to the right ventricle is known as tricuspid valve and narrowing of this valve is known as tricuspid stenosis. The valve connecting the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery (blood vessel which carries blood from the heart to the lungs) is known as the pulmonary valve. Narrowing of the pulmonary valve is known as pulmonary stenosis. The valve connecting the left ventricle to aorta (the largest blood vessel which takes oxygenated blood to the whole of the body) is known as the aortic valve. Narrowing of the aortic valve is known as aortic stenosis.
