Mechanism of pulmonary hypertension in kyphoscoliosis
|Mechanism of pulmonary hypertension in kyphoscoliosis
There are two mechanisms for pulmonary hypertension in kyphoscoliosis:
- Hypoxemia due to hypoventilation in kyphoscoliosis leads to pulmonary vasoconstriction and pulmonary hypertension.
- Anatomical curtailment of pulmonary vasculature due to poor development in those with kyphoscoliosis from early life.
