Multifocal atrial tachycardia or chaotic atrial rhythm

Multifocal atrial tachycardia or chaotic atrial rhythm

Three or more different morphologies of P waves, with a rate more than 100 per minute defines multifocal atrial tachycardia (MAT) or chaotic atrial rhythm. It is a classical arrhythmia associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It mimics atrial fibrillation both clinically and on ECG. Treatment is directed towards the primary condition.
