Prominent A wave – MCQ – Answer

Prominent A wave – MCQ – Answer

Prominent A wave in jugular venous pulse may be seen in all of the following except – Correct answer: d) Normotensive pulmonary regurgitation

Prominent A wave occurs when the right atrial contraction is more forceful due to increased resistance to right atrial emptying. This occurs in right ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension, and tricuspid stenosis. In normotensive pulmonary regurgitation, there is no increased resistance to right atrial contraction unless there is another associated lesion which can cause it.
